The Rhode Island Missing Children Clearinghouse is an investigative, informational, and referral service available to the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. It is maintained and operated by the Rhode Island State Police through the State Fusion Center. The clearinghouse operates a twenty-four (24) hour toll-free tips hotline, (401) 444-1125, which can be used to report leads and tips on missing children. To submit a report of a missing child, contact your local police department or the State Police immediately.
The clearinghouse has educational materials regarding child safety available to the school systems in the state, as well as literature that is available to the general public. The clearinghouse sponsors and annual "Get Booked" program in which children are finger-printed and video-taped so that parents may have vital information readily available in the event that their children every become missing. The clearinghouse distributes posters of missing children to the police departments throughout the state.
The website features on-line photos of children from Rhode Island who currently are missing, and provide a link to the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The NCMEC, a non-profit organization established in 1984, provides support and links for the fifty-state clearinghouses, and features photos of missing children from around the country. The NCMEC has aided in the recovery of tens of thousands of children since its inception.
